I am a piano and theory teacher of just over two years, with experience in teaching beginner-intermediate level students from ages 6-20 years old. I provide personalized enthusiastic lessons which are best tailored to fit my individual students' needs, goals, and skills. I have over 10 years of private training in keyboard and 5 years of theory, composition, and ear training experience, currently enrolled for my second year at UCSC pursuing a bachelor's in Jazz and Spontaneous Composition with a keyboard emphasis. I have played as an accompaniment for strings ensembles, and am currently part of a Jazz Band at UCSC, well versed in Jazz, Classical, Pop, Blues, and modern styles. I understand that musical goals and aspirations vary from person to person, but my dedication to reaching helping you reach those goals does not. I have utmost patience for beginners, and believe in putting a healthy amount of pressure on those who have foundational skills to keep improving.

I have been teaching for my entire professional life, after a very brief career as a touring composer/performer. I regard myself as self-taught in spite of my many years of education: I never really started learning how and what to teach until I actually was doing it! I found it a fascinating experience and I am still learning. Some of the courses I taught at the San Francisco Conservatory are Music Composition, Harmony, Counterpoint (18th C.), The Music of Stravinsky, Early Music of Alban Berg, Sonata Forms, Twentieth Century Music, German Song, 18th - 20th Centuries, "Architectonics": experiments in compositional processes from the Middle Ages to the present; and Electronic Music: history, literature, and practice; social roles of electronic music (advertising, propaganda, and music as medicine); Electronic Music: studio techniques.

I am currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Violin performance. I have performed many times in New York City's prestigious Carnegie Hall, in both the Stern and Weill auditoriums, from being a finalist in many competitions. I have also participated in festivals across the US, like the Meadowmount School of Music, as well as internationally. My most recent international venues were across north eastern Italy, playing in castles, and concert halls, and also touring with the New York Youth Symphony. I have been lucky enough to be a soloist for Vivaldi Four Seasons, and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. I have extensive chamber music as well as concertmaster experience. I was a eurhythmics and solfege tutor at Carnegie Mellon University. I've also had my pieces performed by my high school orchestra, as well as Mannes faculty. In addition to music I love traveling, playing tennis and ping pong, and strategy games. I look forward to teaching you!

Greetings! I am Chris, a pianist and educator currently based in Chicago, IL. I am honored to have two piano performance degrees, a Bachelor of Music from Biola University and a Master of Music from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington. Fun fact: I can trace my teaching lineage all the way back to Liszt and Beethoven! In the past few years, I have participated in competitions and music festivals on two continents and performed at venues throughout the US, most notably at Carnegie Hall’s Weil Hall. Hi, my name is Weldon, and I am a guitarist/producer from Austin. I have been a student of music for 20 years. My musical influences include jazz and classical, and I also enjoy metal and electronica. My teaching style can best be described as relaxed. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that the practice of music can be focused but relaxed, strict but fun. In my lessons, you can expect to learn proper technique and improvisational skills. I like to tell my students that there are no wrong notes. My favorite thing about teaching is bringing a powerful mental exercise filled with emotion and spirituality that one can take with them their whole lives. I primarily teach guitar, but I can also teach sight singing, beginner piano, and production audio engineering. I am a concert pianist and composer who has studied at Eastman School of Music, Boston Conservatory, and Lynn University. I have extensive performance experience throughout the U.S. both as a soloist and as part of the chamber group, ‘The Muse Duo’, that consists of myself and a classical guitarist.
