Understanding Tissimo's Service Fee (Students)

Tissimo is committed to transparent pricing. Here's a clear explanation of what you pay as a student and how Tissimo's service fee works.

What You Pay as a Student

When you book a lesson or purchase a lesson package, you pay the per-hour rate set by your teacher. This rate is displayed clearly on the teacher's profile and during checkout — the price you see is the price you pay.

There are no hidden fees added on top of the lesson price for students. You are not charged a separate platform or service fee at checkout.

Where the Service Fee Comes From

Tissimo operates by retaining a portion of the lesson payment as its platform fee — this is taken from the teacher's share, not added on top of what you pay.

For example, if a lesson costs $60 and a teacher is on a 71% tier rate:

  • You pay: $60
  • Teacher receives: $42.60 (71% of $60)
  • Tissimo retains: $17.40 (29% of $60)

From your perspective as a student, you always pay exactly the rate your teacher advertises — no more.

Payment Methods

Payments are processed securely via Stripe. You can pay using a credit or debit card. Your payment information is handled by Stripe — Tissimo never stores your full card details.

Course Balance

When you pay for a lesson package or top up your course balance, the funds are held in your course balance for that specific course. Lessons are deducted from this balance as they occur. You can check your remaining balance at any time from your Lessons page.
