AI Music Transcription

Tissimo's AI transcription tool converts audio into editable sheet music notation. You can record a melody directly in your browser or upload an audio file, and the AI will generate a MusicXML score that you can review and refine in the notation editor.

Starting a Transcription

  1. Open the notation editor from your sheet music library.
  2. Click AI Transcribe in the editor toolbar.
  3. Choose one of two input methods: Record Audio or Upload File.

Recording Audio

If you select Record Audio, your browser will ask for microphone permission. Once granted:

  1. Click the record button and play or hum your melody.
  2. Click stop when you are finished.
  3. The AI begins processing your recording.

For best results, record in a quiet room and play or hum clearly at a steady tempo.

Uploading an Audio File

If you already have a recording, click Upload File and select an audio file from your device. Supported formats include MP3, WAV, and M4A. Keep recordings under a few minutes for the most accurate results.

AI Processing

After you submit your audio, the AI analyses it and generates a draft score. This typically takes 10 to 30 seconds depending on the length and complexity of the recording. A progress indicator shows you the status.

Reviewing and Editing the Draft

The generated notation appears in the editor as a draft. Review it carefully — AI transcription is not perfect, especially with complex harmonies or fast passages. You can:

  • Correct wrong notes or rhythms using the note palette.
  • Add missing dynamics or articulations.
  • Delete extra notes the AI may have inserted.

Saving to Your Library

Once you are satisfied with the transcription, it saves automatically like any other score. You can find it in your sheet music library for future practice or lessons.
