Sheet music a selection of my piece "Reconstruction (1865-1877)" (2022) for solo saxophone I am currently a 2nd-year master's student in both Composition and Saxophone Performance, studying at Michigan State University. I earned dual-BM degrees in both Saxophone Performance and Composition from Western Michigan University. I specialize primarily in the performance, production, and promotion of new music. As a composer, I have worked with various ensembles, including: Nois Saxophone Quartet, So Percussion, Spectral Quartet, Splinter Reeds, the Hinge Ensemble, Kestrel Duo, the Azu Saxophone Quartet, and the The Western Illinois University Saxophone Quartet, among others. I have been a a finalist in the 2022 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composers Competition and was selected for the Score Follower Spring 21 Call for Scores, among other honors. I am an experienced classical musician and have performed in concerts as well as in musical theatre and operatic productions across NYC and abroad in Kyiv, Ukraine and Salzburg Austria. I am a New York State certified music educator with over five years of experience teaching private lessons, as well as in classroom settings. I have worked with students who range in age from 3 to 18 using a teaching philosophy that centers around creating hands-on, tactical learning experiences infused with social-emotional development in a culturally responsive environment. I am a junior Music Education and Music Performance major with a concentration in voice at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. Hi, my name is Weldon, and I am a guitarist/producer from Austin. I have been a student of music for 20 years. My musical influences include jazz and classical, and I also enjoy metal and electronica. My teaching style can best be described as relaxed. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that the practice of music can be focused but relaxed, strict but fun. In my lessons, you can expect to learn proper technique and improvisational skills. I like to tell my students that there are no wrong notes. My favorite thing about teaching is bringing a powerful mental exercise filled with emotion and spirituality that one can take with them their whole lives. I primarily teach guitar, but I can also teach sight singing, beginner piano, and production audio engineering.
