The chords of a key
Build a triad on every note of a major scale and you get the seven chords of the key. Three are major, three are minor and one is diminished, always in the same order.

- The chord scale in C major, up and down: C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, B°, C0:22
The numeral tells the quality
- The chord scale in G major, up and down: G, Am, Bm, C, D, Em, F♯°, G0:22
- The chord scale in F major, up and down: F, Gm, Am, B♭, C, Dm, E°, F0:22

Three jobs
- Home: vi, I, iii (Am, C, Em)0:10
- Away: ii, IV (Dm, F)0:08
- Tension: V, vii°, then home to I (G, B°, C)0:10
- I–vi–IV–V (C–Am–F–G), then I–vi–ii–V (C–Am–Dm–G): ii stands in for IV0:22
