In this course we will cover improvisation styles ranging from the 1920-present. The focus will be studying the music of masters of individual instruments and adapting their approach to improvisation
into our own tool kit for improvisation. This will largely but done through learning: scales, arpeggios, voicing techniques, harmonic analysis of written transcription, transcribing solos, learning harmony, chord to scale relationships, and ear training. While I teach primarily Alto Saxophone, I am more than open to and interested in teaching students of various instruments.
