This course will teach beginner/intermediate students the elements of correct trumpet playing and more advanced student upper register playing as well as concepts for improvisation. Beginner: How to
hold the trumpet Air intake and exhalation Buzzing to produce a sound Lip placement Tongue placement Identification of treble and bass clefs Names of lines and spaces Time signatures Note reading & counting Long tones & lip slurs Major and relative minor scales Music from the student's school and other relevant sources and more. Advanced: The Pivot System and how its used to develop the low, mid and high register of the trumpet. Advanced theory with respect to chord structure, modes and how to use them when improvising. Advanced scales such as Lydian Dominant, Whole Tone, Altered, Half Step Whole Step, Whole step Half Step etc., Roman Numeral analysis of chord progressions and how it aids in the identification of which scales to use over the analyzed chords and more.
