Both adults and older children/adolescents will enjoy learning basic musical and pianistic concepts which may include (but may not be limited to): Musical Notation (beginning with a simplified system, and then moving onto the Grand Staff), Technique and Artistry, Repertoire (requests for specific pieces or musical genres/artists can usually be accommodated), Sightreading, Theory, History, Improvisation, Collaborative Playing (duets or accompanying), and many other keyboard-centric skills and knowledge such as fingering, hand shifts, and pedaling. Special attention will be paid to early and continuing development of muscle strength and finger independence, so that the older beginner will see and feel noticeable progress from week to week.
